Why Graphic Design?

During my eight years as a Marketing Manager at Twitter (check out the key projects I worked on here), I wore a lot of hats. But the moments that stuck with me were always tied to graphic creation—designing event decks, sales presentations, social media visuals, and even building the entire visual identity for the #TwitterFestival.

I’ve always been drawn to creative pursuits, even as a kid, but I never really explored that side of myself. So, when my chapter at Twitter closed in September 2023, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to dive in. At first, it was just for fun—I wanted to learn how to create things from scratch and, let’s be honest, get better at making funny photo edits of my friends.

Finding the right program came with its own challenges: it had to fit around my life in the Basque Country, last about a year, and be taught by working professionals. After some research, I found the perfect match: LABASAD (Barcelona School of Arts and Design).

Their Online Master in Graphic and Digital Design checked all the boxes: live classes (not pre-recorded), a faculty of active professionals, and a hands-on approach. From December 2023 to December 2024, I dove into six modules, each two months long. Fundamentals of graphic design, packaging, editorial design, website design, motion design, and logo design. It was intense, inspiring, and humbling. I learned so much and, at the same time, realized how much more there is to explore.

The four posters below were my final project for the first module on design fundamentals. The brief was simple but meaningful: create posters answering four questions—Who are you? Where do you live? What are your passions? Why graphic design? Each response was a chance to reflect, to explore, and to create something personal.
